Image intensifiers amplify the incoming light low light levels for applications such as astronomy, high speed imaging, photon counting and fluorescence lifetime measurement. Our image intensifiers provide the highest performance in terms of resolution, speed of response and in-service reliability. Photek image intensifiers can be supplied with integral high voltage power supplies and ultra-high speed gate units customised to meet the requirements of a specific application.
Our wide range of intensifiers enables to get the best possible configuration in terms of resolution, sensitivity, speed and reliability and allows for photonic measurements at the highest level. Photek manufacture intensifiers with 18, 25, 40 and 75 mm active diameter - upon special request even 150 mm!
The intensifiers can be combined with high voltage power supply and gate module. These can be combined with the intensifier or come as separate devices.
Image intensifers can be equipped with various kinds of input windows. Their most important feature is of course the transmission spectrum. A fiberoptic window is suited for applications with direct contact with the (self-emitting) sample.
The photocathode defines the sensitivity spectrum of the intensifier. Besides that the gateability is limited by the electrical conductivity. A special treatment ensuring high conductivity allows for short gating times down to the low ns range.
Intensifiers are assembled with 1, 2 or 3 MCPs. Each MCP increases the maximum gain, however at the expense of (lateral) resolution.
Intensifiers without MCP ("diodes") are used for increasing the brightness (booster) at very short shutter times.
The phosphor screen defines the following parameters, which are weighed differently according to the application: decay time, efficiency (photons/electron) and colour.
The most common options are
P43: green, high efficiency, medium fast
P46: green, medium efficiency, fast
P47: blue, high efficiency, very fast
