Electronics for particle detectors

Power supplies

We offer a range of laboratory power supplies that are specially designed for the operation of image intensifiers and open MCP detectors. According to the needs, 1 up to 4 outputs with predefined voltage ranges are available.

The power supplies are typically designed as tabletop. Optionally 14" rack version is also possible.

Products

FP612: Flat pack power supply for image intensifier with single-MCP, 6 kV screen voltage, with cathode voltage

FP630: FFlat pack power supply for image intensifier with double or triple-MCP, 6 kV screen voltage, no cathode voltage for gateable image intensifier

FP632: Flat pack power supply for image intensifier with double or triple-MCP, 6 kV screen voltage, with cathode voltage

DPS1-5N: digital high voltage power supply with touchscreen, 1 output

DPS2: digital high voltage power supply with touchscreen, 2 outputs, for imaging MCP-Detectors

DPS3: digital high voltage power supply with touchscreen, 3 outputs, for single-MCP image  intensifiers or double-MCP detectors

Gate modules

The gate modules can be used with image intensifiers or photomultipliers as ultrafast electronic shutter. This technology is useful when the detector is operated under bright conditions or for the recording of very fast moving objects. The gate modules switch the photocathode on and off with opening times down to 3 ns and at repetition rates up to 300 kHz (model dependent).

A special gate module allows the gating of MCPs down to 8 ns.

Products

GM10-50B: 50 ns, 10 kHz repetition rate gate unit

GM300-3: 3 ns, 300 kHz repetition rate gate unit

GM300-8U: 8 ns, 300 kHz repetition rate universal gate unit

GM-MCP3-500: 10 ns, 1 kHz repetition rate, 500 V MCP gate unit

IGC3: gate control unit, min. 3 ns pulse width with 250 ps steps

Pulsed Laser

The LPG Laser Pulse Generator is designed for the time resolved diagnosis of photomultiplies and image intensifiers. It allows the measurement of the reaction time of fast PMTs and the gating-speed of image intensifiers. It features a lens control that defocuses the laser beam, spreading it all over the active area of the detector. Furthermore a variable pulse width control from 40 to 800 ps is possible. As a standard the LPG is equipped with a 405 nm or 650 nm laser (other on demand).

Products

LPG-405: pulsed laser ; 40 ps to 800 ps, 405 nm

LPG-650: pulsed laser ; 40 ps to 800 ps, 650 nm

LPG-350: pulsed UV LED; 350 nm

Preamplifier

The preamplifier is used in combination with double or triple-MCP detectors to generate a small electrical pulse for each photon or particle. Thus the timing pulses are amplfied for the feeding of an oscilloscope or other fast timing electronics via a 50 Ω cable.
